Nightingale Quilt - The One for My Mom
You know when you first see a quilt new quilt pattern and you immediately fall in love? That’s what happened when I first saw Brittany from Lo and Behold Stitchery post about the Nightingale Quilt. As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly who I would make this quilt for, and what fabrics I would use to make it.
My mom has been going to school for what seems like forever. I think she decided to continue her college education my senior year of high school (which was a VERY long time ago!). At some point she decided that she wanted to be a nurse. After a few bumps in the road, all of her kids’ weddings, and a few grandkids later, Mom finally completed her program and is now a licensed RN.
The Nightingale Quilt was designed as an homage to nurses. It was inspired by Brittany’s time as a pediatric nurse and an ode to Florence Nightingale and her impact on the nursing profession. I couldn’t think of a more perfect pattern for my mom’s quilt!
For this quilt I used a fat quarter bundle of the Homebody Collection by Maureen Cracknell for Art Gallery Fabrics. I may have used a few extra coordinating fabrics from my stash to help fill the required fat quarters needed for the size I made. For the background, I used a Cotton Couture solid from Michael Miller Fabrics.
The best part is that this is entirely hand quilted! Until next time, fellow quilters, I will leave you with this dreamy texture.
